Boys and girls area basketball teams will be playing in tournaments over the holiday break. Here is the rundown of schedules and information.

Dorchester; Exeter-Milligan

Dorchester and Exeter-Milligan girls and boys basketball squads will participate in the Deshler Holiday Tournament next Tuesday and Wednesday in Deshler.

On the girls side, the Timberwolves face off against Cross County at 1 p.m. Tuesday while the Longhorns take on the host Dragons at 5 p.m. The winners play Wednesday at 5 p.m.; the consolation game is Wednesday at 5 p.m.

The boys division finds top-seeded Cross County meeting Exeter-Milligan at 3 p.m. Tuesday while Deshler and Dorchester boys play at 7 p.m. The boys consolation game is slated for 3 p.m. Wednesday with the championship at 7 p.m.

All-day admission is $4 for adults, $3 for students K-12.

Friend

The Friend boys and girls court teams will make a return appearance at the Malcolm Holiday Tournament next Tuesday and Wednesday.

The female Bulldogs face Centennial at 3 p.m. in first-round action Tuesday while the Friend men play the Broncos in the next game (tentatively set for 4:30 p.m.).

The host Clippers take on the High Plains girls at 6 p.m. and the boys Storm at 7:30 p.m. the same night. On Wednesday, the girls consolation game is set for 3 p.m. with the boys consolation following at 4:30 p.m. Championship games are scheduled for 6 p.m. (girls) and 7:30 p.m. (boys).

All-day (or evening) admission is $5 for adults and $4 for students K-12.

Meridian

Meridian roundball teams will head up north next Thursday (Dec. 30) and Friday to help ring in the New Year at the Osceola Holiday Tournament.

Thursday’s first-round games include top-seeded Clarkson taking on the female Mustangs at 1 p.m. followed by a 2:45 p.m. date between the Clarkson boys and Meridian.

Osceola plays McCool Junction in girls action at 4:30 p.m. Thursday with the boys playing at 6:15 p.m. Friday games are scheduled much earlier, according to Meridian athletic director Clint Jones.

The girls consolation game starts at 9 a.m. while the boys will play for third place at 10:45 a.m. The championship clashes are slated for 12:30 p.m. (girls) and 2:15 p.m. (boys).

Admission charges are $5 for adults; $3 for students K-12.

Wilber-Clatonia

The annual holiday basketball tournament with Wilber-Clatonia and Tri County moves to Tri County this year for two days of games next Tuesday and Wednesday (Dec. 28 and 29).

The female Wolverines face Wymore Southern in the opening game at noon on Tuesday while the W-C boys take on the Raiders in the next game about 1:45 p.m.

The Trojans play Weeping Water at 3:30 p.m. (girls) and 5:15 p.m. (boys), also on Tuesday. The girls third-place game is set for noon Wednesday, followed by the boys consolation clash at 1:45 p.m. The championship tilts are at 3:30 p.m. (girls) and 5:15 p.m. (boys).

Admission is $5 for adults and $4 for students.
